Capt. Rich reported a somewhat slower day of fluking today. Still an 8lbr took the pool and many of the fish caught were nice jumbo size fish. Some blue fish and scup mixed in plus plenty of short fluke and out of season sea bass to toss back. Capt. Rich sets sail again tomorrow morning on the Gail Frances at 7am.
Capt. Chris reported the 4 to 8pm fluke trip was red hot! The first drift was one of the best drifts for size and numbers that Roger had seen along the local beaches in nearly 3 years!! And most of the keepers were jumbo fluke in the 4 to 5.5lb range. The second drift was also quite good as well and the night was made. Ryan McKinley from Denver took the pool wth the night’s biggest fish tipping the scales at 7lbs. Ryan and Stephanie had a great trip today on the 8 to 3 and another great one tonight on the 4 to 8. Hi hook for tonight’s trip put five nice fluke in the box including three fish in the 4 to 5.5lb range. Rental rod set ups, tandem bait rigs and spros were all productive this evening for size and numbers. Capt. Chris had a double header of keeper fluke both in the 4lb range on the first drift as well, one of the best beach double headers Roger had commented that he had ever seen. The local fishing on the beach is really showing some serious strength, almost starting to show signs of 2008 which was one of the best seasons inshore ever.
Capt. George reported a nice mix of fluke and out of season sea bass on the mid afternoon trip but wind against tide made things a bit challenging. Still some nice fish were brought to the net.
