The crew from the Gail Frances reported just an all out assault on the Fluke and Sea Bass today! A decent but not large group of anglers put 150 nice fluke and over 200 good size sea bass on board the decks and into the bags and coolers of the patrons on board the Gail. Needless to say there were many limit catches on the fluke and many anglers who had from six upwards to a full limit catch of good size sea bass apiece. Needless to say there were many jumbo fluke but exactly how many really big fish over 8lbs there were outside of the pool fish was not clear as of this writing. Small details in the big picture as today will certainly go down in the annals as one of the best trips of the year for this 7am full day boat!! Many of the sea bass were in the two to three pound range with some bigger ones. There were several hefty fluke but the pool was cinched with a fish that will enter into the top three of the biggest fluke so far this season with a fine slab of nearly 12lbs taken by longtime regular customer Sandra Tompkins from Hopewell Jct,NY. Way to go Sandra!! Not only is Sandra one of our sharpest fluke anglers but she is also one of the most pleasant and truly kind fisher persons that I have had the pleasure of waiting on in the store. Between yesterday and today, what a turnaround since Sunday!!! Today is one of those days where one can clearly see where the 7am jumbo/jumbo boat derives it well deserved title! Next trip sets sail at 7am tomorrow morning on the Gail Frances.
The half day fishing was also quite good today at the Frances Fleet with the Lady Frances scoring some really nice keeper fluke to six pounds and a nice bunch of good size sea bass and plenty of action with the short fluke despite slow drift conditions. The 1pm half day was also quite good with a better drift and a tremendous action with the shorts plus a mess of really good size keepers, nearly all in the five to seven pound range!! Now that is some good fishing!! Pool winner was Fred from N Smithfieild who with wife Diane had a great trip and a great catch of nice fluke. Now then there was the 4pm half day today for which only a handful of people all walked off the boat with at least a few nice fluke apiece and hi hook had six keeper fluke and a sea bass, wow for half day!! Pool fish in the seven plus pound range. Remember folks that tomorrow is another three half day trip day at the FF. Trips sail at 8am,1pm and 5pm. For those who do back to back trips he or she is eligible to recieve a ten dollar discount on the second outing.
Still plenty of room on tomorrow night’s Striper trip so call the office if interested in booking a spot.
