Capt. Chris and first mate Nicky Blount were elated to report the great success of their Striper and Blues charter for the Tom Bacchere group from the Boston area. The two biggest Stripers were 35 and 30lbs with the rest in the 15 to 25lb range. Several bigger bass were hooked but won the battle between man vs beast. Plenty of slammer alligator blues as well with sizes to at least 15lbs! In fact some of the blue fish were as long as the biggest Stripers! On the way back they did a drop near the Island for some fluke and while the action was non stop there was nothing to brag about size wise. Still plenty of prime dates available for Striped Bass charters on the Capt. Frances through the month of August and as many of you know we are certainly in an era of very large and rather plentiful Stripers, perhaps even eclipsing the prior peak back in the late 70’s and early 80’s. If interested please call the office for charter booking details and speak with Tammy or Roger.
Capt. Mike reported last night’s 4pm half day was very good for the small group of anglers aboard with a great mix of good size fluke to 5lbs and nice size sea bass to at least 3lbs. Just about everyone left with some tasty fillets for more good meals to come and a reasonable amount of action with the short fluke kept the anglers on their toes!
Capt. Mike reported this morning’s fluke trip was respectable although there was not quite as much action with the shorts as we have been used to but the keepers were cooperative at a slow and steady pace and by the trip’s end there was a nice accumulation of keeper fluke up to 7lbs in the big grey box in the stern of the boat.
The combo trip for tonight has been cancelled. The Striped Bass trip for tonight still has a few openings so if interested call the office to book a spot.
