Could the fishing on the 7am boat just get any better?? Today saw an excellent turnout of anglers who came out to enjoy this gorgeous mid August day with cobalt blue sunshine and low humidity and the fishing was every bit as amazing as the weather as the anglers aboard put at least 250 nice fluke in the boat and 150 good size sea bass aboard the deck of the Lady Frances today. Thats right 400 plus keepers!!! There were at least 25 limit catches today. With the slow drift condtions, bucktails were the way to go, no doubt about it! The small spros hi lo with a sinker for main weight and the hi lo mylar flies were the super fluke and sea bass crushers today. The number of keepers on bait rigs today was greatly reduced but there were still a good number. The pool winning fluke today was 10.5lbs with runner up over 8lbs and at least fifty of the other fluke boated today 5lbs or better!! Wow!! Sea Bass numbers varied per angler but upwards to and a bit more than a half dozen good size sea bass apiece to nearly 5lbs with quite a few over 3lbs. A couple frantic blue fish rounded out the day’s catch. Capt. Rich looks forward to another awesome day of weather and hopefully more great fishing tomorrow with the Gail Frances set to sail at 7am. Also tomorrow we will have the 8am full day boat ready to set sail with Capt. Mike on the Admiral Frances.
Reports from the past few half day trips indicate peaks and valleys in terms of the results but overall some nice sea bass and some good size fluke and a handful or two of big porgies plus varying numbers of shorts pleased the anglers aboard. Tomorrow will feature two half day trips with trips sailing at 8am and again at 4pm. The 8am will set sail on the Lady Frances with the 4pm setting sail aboard the Admiral Frances.
