Capt. Ray reported recent Striper fishing to be slow. Just a handful of Stripers both Thursday and Friday Night and nothing big with the best around fifteen pounds. A few blue fish mixed in but nothing of much size there either. Tonight is a new night and Capt. Ray looks forward to getting back out there again with the Lady Frances ready to set sail at 7pm.
Recent half day trips have been on the slower side with a modest pick of keeper fluke and a handful of nice sea bass. One good catch though was Friday evening when a young girl fishing with a rental rod had a brace of 5 pounders. Good numbers of short fluke and short sea bass plus skates and sea robins, some of very impressive size have kept anglers busy at the rails and have still made for great catching nonetheless.
Of note was one particular half day charter yesterday afternoon where the bigger fluke and sea bass did decide to strap on the feedbag with Nate Beauvais group getting a nice bunch of keeper fluke to 7pounds and a nice pile of keeper sea bass including a few jumbos in the three to four pound range plus lots of shorts to keep things moving right along.
Remember there is no 4pm half day this evening. The ONLY half day for today is this morning at 8am. The half day fishing schedule returns to normal tomorrow, Sunday August 21st.
