Capt. Chris reported a very good albeit late bite on the porgies today. But once they turned on it was gangbusters with double headers of big scup coming up all around the boat. One angler easily managed to limit out and in the short but late bite the rest all wound up with fifteen to thirty big scup apiece. Most anglers also had four to six big sea bass apiece with quite a few of them in the two to three and a half pound range. One small bluefish and a couple ocean perch to top off a great catch of scup and sea bass. Biggest scup today around 2lbs. Capt. Ray looks forward to less humid weather and more good fishing tomorrow with the Admiral Frances set to sail at 8am.
Capt. Rich reported a great day of fishing on the 7am full day boat today with some really outstanding late season fluke fishing once again! Adam and his wife from Berlin CT teamed up for 8 jumbo fluke up to 8lbs (nothing under 4lbs!!) and they also had 8 big sea bass up to 4lbs and a few slammer scup to boot. Capt. Rich came down and worked a rod for a little while and in short order put two jumbo fluke in the boat with the biggest one going 7lbs. Chris L managed to go four keeper fluke out of tweleve total in between helping the customers with one or two of his fluke being jumbos. You get the picture, fluke fishing still holding strong around BI. This is hard bottom fluking though folks so be prepared to loose some gear and also be prepared at times for quick drift condtions. In addition to all the nice fluke that were taken anglers had plenty of good size sea bass to over 4lbs with a few anglers amassing limit catches on the tasty relatives of the southern grouper and there were also quite a few platter size porgies and a few nice blue fish to top things off. Everyone went home with nice bags of fillets for many fine meals to come. As mentioned earlier on the site Capt. Frank is adding special full day BI fluke trips by reservation only on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting September 20th leaving at 7am and returning at 4pm. We will continue to target fluke on these days as long as the fishing and weather holds. Call the office to book a reservation or to have any questions answered about these Tuesday and Thursday late season Fluke expeditions.
