Capt. Rich was pleased to report another good day with the cod today. Just a handful of anglers braved the weather forecast which turned out to be erroneous anyway as we had flat calm seas all day with very little drift and just a few sprinkles. In fact due to the overcast it was more comfortable fishing weather than this past Wednesday! Jeff from Wallingford who was hi hook on yesterday’s fluke trip was hi hook again today putting 8 nice size cod in his cooler and releasing a bunch of little ones while another angler had 7 nice fish, a big sea bass and a ling to put his name to and that angler dropped 15 other fish today! Must be those rubber hooks! Gardy from Fairfield CTY CT took home five nice cod and a slammer sea bass today. Just about everyone had at least a couple cod apiece to take home. Longtime regular Anthony from CT had the biggest sea bass of the day with a slob that went just under 6lbs!! The pool fish today was around 15lbs and it was taken on a jig and there were a couple other nice fish taken on the iron clam but the real old fashioned clam was the way to go today. Again it was a soft bite with a lot of dropped fish and fish that were barely hooked. A scattering of good size sea bass, a handful of ling and some nice ocean perch complimented the very respectable catch of cod today. Capt. Rich looks forward to doing it again tomorrow with the Gail Frances set to sail at 7am.
Capt. Ray looks forward to more good porgy fishing tomorrow with the Admiral Frances set to sail at 8am.
Capt. Mike reported that the Tuna trip which came back this afternoon started with a bang! The first fish to be boated was a Blue Marlin that Capt. Mike estimated to be around 350lbs before she was set free to fight again another day. Then came a few nice Albacore and a few Albacore that won the man vs wild creature battle but unfortunately as quick as it started it dissapated. Word has come in to the crew of a good bite to the East and Capt. Mike and crew will be headed in a different direction on the trip leaving this evening so hopes are high all around of a much better report to be filed on Sunday Afternoon.
