Capt. Ray reported an all out crush on the scup today with a big resurgance of the platter size porgies again with fish commonly up to 2lbs today. There were many many limit catches and there were also a lot of big sea bass mixed in as well with at least one full limit catch of sea bass. Sizes on the sea bass up to 5lbs today with many nice ones in the 2 to 3.5lb range. No blue fish and no ocean perch today for some strange reason but there was a fine 6lb tatoug. It was a great day of fishing for all aboard and the weather was just dandy! Capt. Ray looks forward to another great day of porgy and sea bass fishing tomorrow with the Admiral Frances set to sail at 8am.
Capt. Rich reported that they enjoyed cobalt blue skies and warm gentle breezes today on the day cod trip. Anglers also had a decent bite right off the bat but then for whatever reason as the tide changed the bite shut right off except for an occasional fish. Hi hook had four nice cod including a couple ten pounders. Nothing big today. We also had a scattering of big sea bass to 5lbs, some hefty and handsome ocean perch and a couple trophy size blue fish well into the teens and that was all she wrote for today’s cod trip. We are starting to see more and more bait starting to show on the cod grounds and we also noted most of the fish today were green fish which are fish just arriving onto the grounds. Wendesday also saw a lot of green cod so there are some very strong signs of a strong cod fishery in development over the next few weeks! Also the same guy who had four nice cod today reported dropping and rolling quite a few others while the bite was on this morning and he also mentioned that while the bite was on the fish seemed a bit more aggressive than on some previous trips. Tomorrow is a new day and Capt. Rich looks forward to setting sail on the Gail Frances at 7am for more cod.
