Capt. Ray reported an all out crush on the big scup today with fish to 3lbs and many limit catches plus a lot of jumbo sea bass over 2lbs with the best up to 5lbs for the pool fish, fishing in just a little deeper water today. One group of five anglers all had their limits of big sea bass and big scup while longtime regular customer Ginny Reed and her grandson Cole had a nice pile of big sea bass to go along with all their giant porgies. A short cod and short fluke and a pile of ocean perch of varying sizes rounded out an awesome haul of scup and sea bass. Great to see the porgy fishing bounce right back in a big way! What a day of fishing!! Capt. Ray looks forward to another great day tomorrow with great weather and more good fishing as the Admiral Frances is set to sail at 8am for jumbo porgies and sea bass.
Capt. Rich reported a tough day of local cod fishing. Just not much bite today. Another big cow cod of 35lbs to take the pool for one lucky angler today and Wally Frey had another nice fish well into the teens. A couple other fish in the low to mid teens amongst some smaller market size fish scattered around the boat. A few handfuls of nice size sea bass and a handful of big scup and some ocean perch rounded out the catch today. The weather and turnout of cod enthusiasts was once again just great! We hope for better tomorrow, we know we have the great weather on tap and we are hopeful the cod will be a bit more cooperative. Capt. Rich sets sail at 7am on the Gail Frances.
