Capt. Mike reported an excellent day of local togging. The bite was on! Pool fish was a staggering 11.5lb monster with four other fish over 9lbs. Needless to say limits were the norm with non limits the rare exception today. Plenty of shorts too to keep anglers busy as well in between the keepers. A handful or two of sea bass and a couple scup but the tog were the stars today and today’s fishing rates at least four stars! A nice trigger fish too today! Capt. Mike looks forward to another good day of tog fishing tomorrow with the Lady Frances set to sail at 6am.
Capt. Rich reported a very good day of local cod and sea bass fishing. The weather was divine and allowed us to drift all day and pick away at both the cod and sea bass. Some bigger green fish mixed in today. Everything was a bit more active today and the water pretty much cleaned up. Biggest fish went to Kevin from Niantic who brought a fine 25lb green cod to the gaff, one of four nice cod he put in his cooler. Mike T and his buddy from Narragansett were pleased with the 12 fine cod to 15lbs and fifteen or so nice size sea bass that filled their big white cooler to just about the brim. Well done again gentlemen!! Most of the cod they had were nice green fish in the six to ten pound range. Wille from Brooklyn put five nice good in his cooler along with a nice mess of good size sea bass and big porgies and so on. Quite a few short cod as well mixed in today which is something that we always like to see. Biggest sea bass was around four pounds and while numbers on the sea bass varied from angler to angler, a few anglers had as many as ten or a little better like longtime regular Anthony from Providence who had nearly his limit of nice sea bass to go along with three fine cod. Some healthy ocean perch mixed in as well and there were more big porgies in the mix as well. Just a really nice day of fishing. Roger forgot his phone today so hopefully we will be able to get a couple of pics up later today or tomorrow to showcase angler hi lights. Anyway Capt. Rich looks forward to more good fishing on Wednesday with the Gail Frances set to sail for cod and sea bass at 7am.
