Capt. Rich reported there was still a big groundswell on out on the local cod grounds today but that the anglers aboard managed to make a day of it chipping away at market cod with the biggest in the lower teens along with a nice mix of good size scup and some jumbo sea bass plus a nice mess of blue fish, some of which were gator size. Some of the sea bass ranged upwards to nearly four pounds. Capt. Rich fished very close to home today and while the fishing was not red hot he was very encouraged by what he saw. A fair amount of short cod today as well, something we can never see enough of. All in all not a bad day at all and just about everyone left with a nice mixed bag of delicious eating ground fish for some tasty meals to come. We are hopeful to go on Friday with the Gail Frances set to sail at 7am with Capt. Rich. Please make sure to call the office tomorrow afternoon to double check on the weather for Friday.
