Capt. Rich reported a very good day of local cod and excellent sea bass fishing on the Gail Frances today. The vast majority of anglers aboard had a half dozen to full limit catch of nice sea bass with the biggest around 4lbs and the vast majority of anglers aboard had one to four nice green cod apiece to go along with their sea bass. Dave from NY was hi hook with six cod and another fellow in the stern was right behind with five nice green cod to put in his cooler. A few handfuls of big scup to nearly 3lbs plus some nice ocean perch, a few red hake and a handful of blue fish of varying sizes rounded out the day’s catch. Chris from NY took the pool today with a fine green cod over 25lbs. Lots and lots of short cod tossed back today as well and the vast majority of all of the fish whether big or small were green fish. Very strong signals of new fish continuing to move into the area. The weather was dynamite today so a slow to moderate drift was in order. We look forward to another good day tomorrow with the Capt. Rich set to sail at 7am. Cod pics are courtesy of Roger.
Capt. Mike reported the fine fall weather brought out another enthusiastic group of togging fanatics and the fishing was “just great”. Everyone using crabs went home with at least a few nice tog apiece and most of the anglers aboard were limited out or very close to it. Pool fish was ten pounds and there were several other tog over 9lbs today. A tremendous amount of shorts, including many just fractionally short, kept anglers very busy today and bodes very well for the future. A couple of keeper cod, a red hake and a Block Island Wolfish (ocean pout) rounded out the day’s catch. This makes seven days in a row of outstanding tog fishing! Don’t delay to get your fair share of crustacean crushing creatures, the bite is on now! Capt. Mike gladly looks forward to another good day of togging tomorrow with the Lady Frances set to sail at 6am. Tog pics are courtesy of Chris K.
