Capt. Mike reported a respectable day of togging with another good surge of cod fish. A cod fish a tad under 15lbs took the pool over a keeper Striper. Biggest tog was around 8lbs. There were at least two limit catches of tog out of a light crowd and a few other anglers had close to their limit. A decent number of anglers aboard had one to three keeper cod apiece and quite a few other cod were dropped by anglers. Shallow water cod fight HARD! Keep those drags flexible gentlemen, especially with the braid. Some short tog and a very few sea bass topped off the tog and cod catches today on the Lady Frances. Capt. Mike looks forward to more togging tomorrow with the Lady Frances set to sail at 6am.
Capt. Rich reported a good day on the cod/sea bass trip with sea bass the big story today. Sea bass from just keeper size to around or just over six pounds!! A good number of the anglers aboard easily limited out on the sea bass and a good number of the sea bass were really big fish in the three to five pound category. A respectable number of market cod to just under ten pounds with hi hook getting three keeper cod for the day to go along with a full limit catch of big sea bass. Quite a few cod that just missed the mark as well that went back to please anglers another day. Some nice porgies and a couple small bluefish plus a couple nice ocean perch rounded out the catch of cod and big sea bass today on the Gail Frances. Capt. Rich looks forward to another nice day of fishing tomorrow with the Gail Frances set to sail for cod and sea bass at 7am.
