Capt. Rich reported today’s cod and sea bass trip provided anglers with excellent fishing once again. Congrats to Peter Tu for his pool winning fish in the upper teens today that inhaled a jig today. Peter and Connie had a couple other cod and both easily limited out on nice size sea bass today. In fact the vast majority of the anglers aboard had their sea bass limits today. Furthermore many anglers were being rather size selective keeping only sea bass of 15 inches or more to attain their limits. Not quite as many super jumbos but still a nice mix of bigger fish up to and over 4lbs today. Some good size porgies mixed in as well today with sizes to well over 2lbs. Plenty of good size ocean perch, a fine 8lb doormat fluke(on a clam!), and one cocktail blue fish rounded out the catch of cod and sea bass today. There were a couple of other nice size cod in the very low teens and the rest mainly nice market size. Plenty of short cod again which always bodes well for the future. Hi hooks on the cod iced several nice cod apiece in addition to their full limit catches of sea bass. Best of all I think I only saw one or two dogfish on the whole boat all day!!! In fact today was a fine day to employ a two hook rig with much success. Many double headers of sea bass today. Since the weather was so beautiful we were able to drift all day and a few anglers who worked at jigging fooled some nice cod and plenty of nice sea bass on the metal today so both the jigs and bait were effective today. It was a gorgeous sunny warm day and the forecast calls for more of the same tomorrow with Capt. Rich ready to set sail on the Gail Frances at 7am. A few pics will appear above today’s report courtesy of Roger.
Capt. Mike reported a good day of togging today but not quite as hot as yesterday. Still at least a few limits and others who were not far behind. Quite a few shorts and one nice cod compliments of Cory Blount rounded out the day’s catch. Biggest tog today was around 8lbs. Capt. Mike looks forward to another nice day on the water tomorrow with the Lady Frances set to sail at 6am.
