Capt. Rich reported an awesome day of sea bass fishing with a very nice mix of cod to boot. Very close to a full boat limit of sea bass with sizes upwards to and over 4lbs plus a nice showing of market cod with a couple of bigger ones to nearly 15lbs. Quite a few nice size scup today as well. Hi hooks on the cod today were Steve from Florida with four fine cod to 15lbs to go along with his limit of good size sea bass and the pool winnings as well. Way to go Steve! Richard from Lee also had four fine cod to go along with his limit of sea bass. Tom Mitchell from Bristol CT jigged up a fine green cod today over ten pounds and jigged up a lot of big sea bass as well and Roger jigged a bunch of sea bass but overall for the cod the action was almost 100pct on bait. Everyone on board left with nice bags of fillets for many fine meals to come. The weather was nice and calm so we were able to drift all day and once again the dogs were no where to be found so two hook rigs were just fine today. A rather staggering number of cod that had to be returned today as well which always is good to see. A lot of ocean perch and some nice red hake up to 3.5lbs plus one blue fish to round out the sea bass and cod catches. As a friendly reminder please remember the mates work hard on deck for their tips and receive only a nominal fee per fish so tipping IN ADDITION to the filleting fee is much appreciated by the crew. Wednesday is shaping up to be an good fishing day weather wise as of this writing so as of now the Gail Frances will be set to sail with Capt. Rich at 7am.
Capt. Mike reported an awesome day of fishing on the black fish boat. The tog fishing was okay itself with some nice fish to nearly ten pounds but the big surprise was the COD CRUSH that ensued on a couple of pieces of black fish bottom today. The cod on the tog boat is hit or miss, that is just the way it is. Yesterday there were only a few nice cod, today there were A LOT!! Several of the anglers aboard had seven to nine keeper cod apiece to take home in addition to their tog. Most of the rest of the anglers aboard had three to five nice cod apiece. All nice green fish with sizes to around fifteen pounds. All the cod action was on bait whether it be clam or crab. A few pics will appear courtesy of Roger from this trip as well. Tomorrow is a new day and Capt. Mike will be ready to set sail on the Lady Frances at 6am.
