Capt. Rich reported a late bite on the cod today but the small group of anglers aboard did put together a nice catch of market cod by day’s end. Just about everyone had a cod and some had two or even three. Nothing big with the best around ten pounds. A fair amount of short cod to throw back and quite a few nice size mackerel with a couple anglers who tried for them doing rather well with even a few triple headers of the miniature members of the tuna family. Tremendous amounts of bait and birds all over the grounds traveled today and looks like things will bust wide open any day! Both bait and jigs were producing but jigs had the edge for size and numbers today. No trip tomorrow due to strong winds and right now Tuesday is not looking very friendly either. Stay tuned for as soon as the forecasted wind abates toward mid week we look to be out after the cod in force with Capt. Mike set to sail at 5am on the Lady Frances. The Frances Fleet would like to wish all customers a Happy, Safe and Fruitful New Year’s!
