Capt. Mike reported a strong day of local cod fishing today. The fish were not as spread out as we would have liked amongst the healthy turnout of cod enthusiasts who joined us today in some remarkably warm January weather but by any standard it was a good day of codding with at least a few limit catches and a respectable number of anglers who were within striking distance of the limit. Just a few small mackerel mixed in with the nice green cod today and Capt. Mike commented that there were a lot of fish in the larger market range (8 to 10lbs) with a handful into the teens and pool fish around or just a tad under 15lbs. Once again the metal was the ticket. The winds were not that strong today which enabled a much more productive drift speed and thus the good results. Another beautiful January fishing day on tap for tomorrow and Capt. Mike will be ready to set sail on the Lady Frances at 5am for cod. A few pics will appear with today’s report courtesy of Capt. Mike.
