Capt. Mike reported a very good day of codding today and there were more bigger fish to boot! There were a couple limit catches, most notably though was longtime regular customer Dan King who topped off his limit catch by winning the pool with a fine fat green cod that tipped the scales at 20lbs and had to be balanced against another fish of similar though ever so slightly smaller size. Dan and his buddy jigged up a total of 17 fine green cod today. Just a handful of shorts and a handful of spike mackerel mixed in otherwise it was all nice green cod with the metal producing the best by far. There were also a decent number of anglers who werew within striking distance of their limits and Capt. Mike commented that there were quite a few cod that were in the ten to twelve pound range today. Not only do these size fish tend to produce the highest yield (fillets per pound of whole fish) but they are also in their prime and when caught jigging in shallow cold water they put up quite a tussle! A nice mix of fine dining and sport, what better way to spend a beautiful winter day! Capt. Mike looks forward to another nice day on the water tomorrow with the Lady Frances set to sail at 5am. The weather looks about as good as it could be for this time of year so grab your rod and come on down! Cory will have the office open around or just after 4am for check ins and ticket and tackle sales. A couple pics illustrating today’s good cod fishing are once again provided by Capt. Mike.
