Capt. Mike reported an okay day of local cod fishing. It was a slow chip all day long. Numbers varied from angler to angler but some angelrs managed four and five nice cod apiece to take home such as Frank Merlo, longtime regular, from Danbury CT and Terry from CT, also a longtime regular customer. Zach from Voluntown CT had the day’s biggest cod with a fine fat green fish in the mid teens while Misty Mark and Drifter Rich combined for a healthy looking group of market cod with Misty Mark ever so slightly besting Drifter Rich in overall numbers of keepers today. A couple of cod on jigs but otherwise it was all bait. A couple pollock, a few pout, a few big ocean perch and one very big Christmas Eel rounded out the cod catch today. The weather was simply divine today!! Tomorrow wil make EIGHT straight days of sailing in a row!! The streak looks to continue right through Friday and perhaps Saturday, just amazing for the dead of winter but this seems to be the year without a winter. Anyway a few pics provided courtesy of a guy who has not been catching many cod recently but still thinks they are the best fish that swims this side of the North Atlantic. Capt. Mike of course will be ready to set sail tomorrow morning on the Lady Frances at 5am.
