Capt. Mike reported a good day of cod fishing with intermittent flurries of activity with the cod slowly adding up to a nice sum by day’s end. Rob and Jeff from Middlesex County CT teamed up for 18 nice green cod today and threw back lots and lots of shorts (Rob nailing his limit today of fine fat keepers). These two gentlemen were rather busy most of the day at each drop and the ticket to their success was a long leader below the sinker. The majority of the other anglers aboard today had four to seven nice cod apiece to take home with just a few anglers doing less than that. Eben York was the only angler who successfully jigged up a few nice cod today otherwise it was all on bait once again. Eben tallied at least six nice keepers for the day and threw back many smaller ones. A couple nice pollock today including one in the low teens but it was bested by a fine cod headed towards the mid teens taken by Robert Lasard from Stafford CT who had bragging rights today and some prize money to boot and his pool winning cod was one of six nice fish he iced today. A few pout, a few sea ravens and a few ocean perch mixed in with the cod. Tomorrow looks like the last nice fishing day for awhile, it certainly has been quite a stretch and while Saturday’s storm is not etched in stone yet, it is looking like the weather goes south after tomorrow. Therefore we look forward to tomorrow and Capt. Mike will be set to sail at 5am aboard the Lady Frances. A few pics provided today by a guy who thinks Pt. Judith style codding is the best kind that there is.
