The only thing that was on par with yesterday today was the weather. The weather was balmy and oil slick calm similar to yesterday. The bite however was way off. What little pick of keepers and shorts that was had in the morning died out and just never recovered despite many many moves. Tremendous markings of herring and mackerel all over the grounds today with good signs of cod all around them but for whatever reason the cod had lockjaw after late morning. Some anglers did put on mackerel rigs and managed upwards to a couple dozen mackerel apiece including a few specimens over a pound. On the cod front, Stevie B. from CT was hi hook with five keepers while Ron from CT had four keepers. A few ocean pout and a few ocean perch and some sea ravens rounded out the day’s catch. Almost no dogs to speak of either today, quite unlike yesterday. Tomorrow is a new day and Capt. Mike will look forward to setting sail at 5am on the Lady Frances. The office will be open by 4am for check ins and tackle sales. A few pics of interest today provided by a local ground fish enthusiast.
