EXCELLENT COD FISHING TODAY WITH CAPT. MIKE ON THE LADY FRANCES, TUESDAY MARCH 20TH 2012!!

Capt. Mike was elated to report the local cod fishing was excellent today. It was a steady pick all day and not only did just about everyone who fished go home with good size cod but most of the anglers aboard went home with four to eight of them apiece. Anglers went home with bulging bags of snow white fillets, the end result of full burlap sacs of nice green cod.  Most of the cod were much bigger than the previous days with most of them “gaffers” in the 8 to 12lb range with several bigger ones into the mid and upper teens. Even a few double headers. Some shorts in the mix. Anglers also had some good numbers of ling including a few real baseball bats, one nice pollock, a few big ocean perch to round out an awesome catch of cod. Some anglers hi lights include but are not limited to the following: Dan from CT with a rental rod was hi hook with 9 nice cod to 15lbs with most of them in the 8 to 12lb range while Andre from Ft. Lauderdale had 5 good cod into the low teens and Wayne from Scituate RI had 5 good cod to the low teens. Another angler fishing mid ship had 8 nice cod to 14lbs while Seth from Cumberland RI had six good cod to at least 15lbs with all of his fish over 10lbs. Longtime regular Anthony and his friend combined for nearly a dozen good size cod most of them being in the 8 to 12lb range. Plenty of pics today are provided courtesy of a local cod enthusiast. The weather today was oil slick calm and it was so warm that a few anglers were fishing in just a shirt and jeans!! Everything was on bait today despite the fact that the cod were loaded with mackerel and big herring although some were loaded with the boat bait as well. Anyways it was a great day and Capt. Mike and Capt. Matt truly did an exceptional job servicing the anglers aboard and thanks also to Roger who stepped in as he has done many times in the past and did an exceptional job skinning on the table the entire way home. Capt. Mike looks forward to more great weather tomorrow and the Lady Frances will be set to sail at 5am with the office being open at 4am for ticket sales and check ins.
