Roger was pleased to report an excellent day on the full day fluke boat today with a great haul of keepers and some real “trophy” size fluke skillfully steered to the nets and on to the deck of the Lady Frances. Tyler from Tom’s River took the prize money today with a fine 29 inch 10.5lb slab. The behemoth flattie fell victim to a 3z glo spro as part of a tandem buck tail rig. To make things even more exciting the double digit fish managed to snap the leader line right at boat side but lightning quick reflexes from Capt. Mike managed to free net the big fish before she even had a chance to think about diving down back towards the bottom!! Bill from Charlestown had the day’s next biggest fish with a 28 inch slab that went 8.5lbs. Bill’s fishing partner Jane also had a fine fluke of at least six pounds and together they teamed up for 7 nice fluke which yielded nearly 15lbs of fillet!! There was at least one full limit today and about a third of the anglers aboard had at least six nice keepers apiece to take home. The vast majority of anglers aboard had at least one or two for dinner with most of the anglers aboard getting several nice fish apiece to take home. Quite a few good size fish in the “jo” class of 4lbs or better. Even a few double header keepers! Some shorts to keep things moving right along. Only a handful of hard fighting big blue fish today, one scup and some nice sea bass to throw back. Two more fishing days til Friday and we all cannot wait til then so we can throw those nice sea bass right on ice! Both long leadered bait rigs and buck tails produced today and one angler had substantial success with whole squid. Tomorrow is a new day and Capt. Mike has plans to set sail on the Lady Frances at 7am. All pics taken were from today and courtesy of Roger.
