The report from first mate Troy on last night’s combo was of good to excellent squid fishing with aggressive and frequently large and super size squid tubes nailing jigs with many double headers. Some anglers filled a half a five gallon pail with ease and would have filled more but some extra effort was put into looking for some hungry fin fish that just did not want to cooperate last night. That is correct, very slow bite on the fluke on the first part of the combo and then little to no bite on the anchor for the scup and sea bass despite numerous attempts. So for those keeping track once again some of the better squid fishing witnessed this year has been late in June well after the spawn. Combo trips sail Friday and Saturday Nights at 7pm by reservation.
The word from Capt. Ray was of an excellent night of Striper fishing last night. Lots of nice keepers with sizes into the 20’s with a respectable number of anglers who easily limited out. Plenty of missed opportunities on the Stripers as well as there were a lot of bare hooks coming up once again and despite having bucket size mouths these gamesters can easily pull an eel right off the hook. Nevertheless last Saturday Night’s outing will go down as a successful one and Capt. Ray looks forward to the next outing set to sail Thursday Night on the Lady Frances at 7pm by reservation.
