Roger reported good fishing overall on the 7am full day boat today. The best bite was in the morning til around noon time with the afternoon a bit more relaxed. Sung Koo from Mansfield CT had the biggest fish of the day with a fine slab of 8lbs and 27.5 inches!! Way to go Sung!! There were two other fish in the 7lb range and a good bunch of others in the 4 to 6lb range to compliment the rest of the keeper fluke. A fair shot of sea bass today as well although not nearly as many as yesterday, the fluke were more prominent today. Two anglers using rental rods with plain jane bait rigs had nearly a dozen nice fluke and a couple nice sea bass today while several of our spro experts easily limited out including but not limited to Mr. Kim. The rest of the gang generally did alright taking home at least dinner in most cases. The spro and other buck tail combinations were supreme due to the rod handlers themselves coupled with the slow drift conditions. Whole Squid was again NOT that hot today, just ask Roger. We did see a big ocean sunfish (mola mola) today which provided a bit of excitement for the anglers aboard. Outside of a few rain drops and rumbles of thunder this morning it was a beautiful summer day on the water. Tomorrow is forecast to be another and Capt. Rich will set sail at 7am aboard the Gail Frances. A few pics today provided courtesy of Roger.
Capt. Mike reported the 8am and 1pm half days were both pretty good with a nice mix of fluke and sea bass. Fishing continues to get better each day going forward it seems. Just ask 9 year old Jason Salley who went fishing with his Grandmother this morning and won the pool with a fine 22 inch 4lb summer flattie. Way to go Jason!! Two half days on tap tomorrow with trips sailing at 8am and again at 4pm. There was no 4pm today due to the weather forecast and lack of interest.
