Roger reported the 7am full day boat had an okay day of fluking today. The bite was sporadic and slow until the last hour when the boat finally started to move and anglers began to chip away more steadily at some nice size fluke. By day’s end some anglers had done just fine closing in on a half dozen nice fluke apiece and a few sea bass to take home while others had at least a good dinner or two and others were not so fortunate. All in all not a bad day of fishing but when compared to the two to three hundred fish days that were so plentiful at times over the summer it does have a tendency to seem a bit quiet. Bait rigs and buck tail combinations both did well today although due to the slower drift conditions the buck tails were the top producers. Congrats to Russ from Yorktown NY who nailed the 6lb pool winning slab today. Russ also had several other nice combined fluke and sea bass to make for an impressive looking bag of fillets and Russ had not been out deep sea fishing in several years! Some fishermen never forget how it’s done!! Nice job Russ! A handful of other good “jo” fluke over 4lbs and some hefty sea bass to almost 4lbs in the mix as well today. A few scup and some hefty blue fish into the low teens to add some excitement. Again whole squid and big baits were not so effective today but watch out on the next trip with a good drift! Another nice day on tap for tomorrow and Capt. Rich will be set to sail at 7am aboard the Gail Frances. A couple of pics courtesy Roger will be posted above today’s report.
