Capt. Ray reported a respectable start to the porgy season today with quality over quantity. A few hundred nice size sea bass to 3lbs complemented the porgies today and platter size scup to over 2lbs pleased patrons in respectable but not huge numbers. Most anglers did have four to ten nice sea bass to add to their scup catches. At least a dozen triggers up to 5lbs or more including one double header!! Some ocean perch and one nice blue fish to round out the catch of porgies and good size sea bass. Tomorrow is a new day and Capt. Ray will set sail on the Lady Frances at 7am.
Capt. Rich reported a solid day on the 7am full day fluke and sea bass drift trip. Ken from Shelton Ct took the pool with a fine 10lb slab and a pic will be posted above today’s report courtesy of Roger. Other nice slabs in the six to eight pound range plus a good mess of sea bass and some other keeper fluke and a couple of blue fish and a few big ocean perch pleased patrons on the Gail Frances today. Hi hooks on the sea bass came dangerously close to double digit territory while hi hooks on the fluke had four and five nice keepers apiece. Capt. Rich sets sail tomorrow morning on the Gail Frances at 7am.
Capt. Chris O and first mate Troy reported just a remarkable day of fishing for the Ernest Pinon charter which was treated to the MOTHER LOAD of big porgies today in close to the island. Scup from one to two and a half pounds two at a time until anglers were limited out!! A few of the monster porgies eclipsed the 3lb mark!! Some nice keeper sea bass, a throwback resident cod, and a few ocean perch rounded out the incredible catch of scup. Still plenty of prime fall dates available for full day scup, sea bass and cod charters so if interested in further booking details call the office and speak to Tammy or Roger or Cory or check out the Private Charters section of the web site.
Capt. Chris reported a slower night of Striper fishing last night but tonight is a new night and a fresh Striper report will be up Sunday Morning. Remember that starting this coming week through the end of October Striper fishing will be only available by reservation on Saturday Nights.
