Roger reported porgy fishing today was respectable and the weather was awesome combined with a nice mess of sea bass and other tasty critters made for an enjoyable and fruitful day on the water. Scup were quality for sure with fish to about 2.5lbs. There were a few pops of good fishing with double headers but for the most part it was a steady chip. There was at least one sea bass limit and a good number of the anglers aboard had at least a half dozen nice sea bass apiece to go along with their scup. Several fine keeper Stripers also found the clam bait impossible to refuse today and a few shortie Stripers as well. Quite a few triggers today with the best well over 5lbs and quite a few ocean perch and some big blue fish up to 13lbs to make things even more exciting. Some pics today posted courtesy of Roger. Tomorrow looks like more fine weather with the Capt. Frances set to sail at 7am with Capt. Chris.
The morning half day was reported to be slow despite a great turnout of enthusiastic half day anglers. We are hoping for better results on this afternoon’s outing. Sounds like the afternoon outing was better with more cooperative keeper porgies and sea bass. Two half days tomorrow with the first at 8am and the second at 1pm. Anyone who wants to make a day of it and do both back to back half days will receive $15 off on the second trip. The half days tomorrow will be aboard the Admiral Frances with Capt. Matt.
Capt. Rich reported a good to excellent day of fishing. Some anglers did much better than others but sounds like just about everyone went home with at least some sea bass. Needless to say there were many sea bass limits and there were also several fluke limits today. In fact one angler using his own homemade bait rigs had not only a limit of fluke including six fish over 5lbs but a full limit of sea bass!! Now that is some meat!! Ed from CT had four nice keeper fluke and an easy full limit of sea bass all between 15 and 20 inches on the sea bass!! Capt. Ted and Cote were cutting til nearly 6pm!!! Many of the anglers aboard had catches such as two to four keeper fluke apiece and five to twelve sea bass apiece to take home. Nothing over 4lbs on the sea bass but countless certified jumbos in the 2 to 2.5lb range. Quite a few platter size scup to well over 2.5lbs along with some blue fish made for a very busy yet productive day on the water. Early word indicated the biggest fish to be at least in the 7-8lb range today. Weather looks beyond amazing tomorrow and Capt. Rich will be ready to set sail on the Gail Frances at 7am.
Last Night’s Striper trip was slow due to horrendous tide conditions. A very few bass and blues. We hope for better next Saturday Night.
