Roger reported a great day on the water with Capt. Ray on the Admiral Frances today. A very light crowd came out with us to enjoy the outstanding weather and excellent non stop action with good size porgies and an excellent showing of nice size sea bass including some real whoppers in the three to four pound range. The majority of the anglers aboard had a solid half dozen sea bass apiece to go along with their porgies with a few of the sharpies getting close to ten nice sea bass apiece. Due to the perfect weather we drifted all day and on the drifting days we tend to get more sea bass while we are porgy fishing. Everyone had all the big porgies they wanted with some anglers easily achieving full limit catches. Nothing enormous on the porgies but plenty of fish in the 1 to 1.5lb range with a few upwards to the 2lb mark. A few big ocean perch,a nice keeper fluke and a few nice blue fish mixed in as well today. Tomorrow looks like another spectacular weather day and Capt. Ray looks forward to setting sail at 7am aboard the Admiral Frances. Some pics today provided courtesy Roger.
Capt. Frank and Capt. Cory were out doing a bit of cod scouting close to home and once again were pleasantly surprised with the results they found. A nice bunch of feisty green cod jumped on both the fresh clams and iron clams that were offered to them. Nothing big but all nice eating size fish with the best around ten pounds. They also found a few big sea bass and some ocean perch and some big porgies and this was all rather close to home. Some pics are provided courtesy of Capt. Cory. The Frances Fleet starts it’s fall cod fish this coming Saturday at 7am aboard the Gail Frances with Capt. Rich. The Frances Fleet will be armed with fresh sea clams and ready to do battle with the brown bombers!!
