Roger reported it was a great day of day cod fishing with Capt. Rich today on the Gail Frances. There was also a nice showing of big (2.5 to 4lb) sea bass in the mix as well as some hubcap size scup to nearly 2.5lbs, good size ocean perch and some trophy blue fish into the mid teens to top off the great haul of cod. It was generally a morning bite with most of the damage done by Noon time or shortly thereafter. Carlo, longtime regular from Stamford Ct had today’s biggest fish with a fine cod in the low 20’s and three of his four cod were in the teens plus Carlo had five slammer sea bass to boot! Longtime regular Norm from northern RI is going home with six nice cod (five in the 12 to 17lb range!!) and some nice sea bass while another regular customer in the bow iced NINE nice cod (6 in the 10 to 17lb) range!! Another angler in the stern had five nice cod all in the teens plus a few slammer sea bass and so on. Rental rods also caught very well today and caught quite a few of the bigger cod in the mid to upper teens. Generally the vast majority of the anglers aboard had three to six nice cod apiece to take home and two to seven big sea bass plus the early mentioned assortment of other critters. Despite some valiant jigging attempts it was 100pct on bait today. Another bonus today was that the unmentionables were hardly mentionable! Capt. Rich looks forward to going again tomorrow and the weather looks great with the Gail Frances set to sail at 7am. Some pics today are provided courtesy of Roger.
