Roger was pleased to report that the cod fishing again today was downright respectable. More keeper size fish today with a nice sprinkling of green fish of a bit larger size with the best just shy of 15lbs with honors going to longtime regular Norm who not only took the pool with his fine green cod but had two other nice cod and nice size sea bass to go along with. Well done once again Norm!! Hi hook on the cod had 4 today. We crushed the biggest kind of porgies today by cod fishing standards with many fish in the 1.75 to 2.5lb range recorded and hi hooks upwards to and over 30 slammer scup apiece with many doing 10 to 15 apiece easily, even with 5 and 6/0 cod hooks! A lot of quality sea bass to 4lbs plus with many in the two to three pound range and many anglers had a half dozen big sea bass or more to go along with their slammer porgies and cod fish. Just ask Mick and Kay Lee from Manchester CT who filled their cooler to the brim with a great array of tasty mixed bottom dwellers! A few blue fish, a nice size Striper estimated in the high teens that was released to fight another day( even Stripers wander onto the offshore cod grounds on occasion), and some mega ocean perch to nearly 2lbs rounded out the species assortment for today. Just awesome mixed bag fishing and outside of one area we fished, the unmentionables once again were hardly mentionable. Tomorrow’s weather looks great and the Gail Frances will be ready to set sail at 7am with Capt. Rich. A few pics today courtesy of Roger.
Capt. Ray reported great porgy fishing again today with many limits on the boat. Just a few sea bass mixed in and a couple blue fish. Capt. Chris is at the helm tomorrow with the Admiral Frances set to sail at 7am.
