Roger from the Frances Fleet reported Capt. Rich had another awesome day of local cod fishing for the light handful of anglers who decided to join him on what turned out to be the NICEST weather day so far this weekend and the BEST fishing day!! Flat calm seas allowed for perfect drift conditions today with the light rain holding off until it was just about time to leave the fishing grounds and by that time the damage had been done. Biggest cod was just under or right around 30lbs taken by a regular customer who was not in the pool, that angler wound up with 9 nice cod. Ron Dohan had 8 fine cod to 20lbs and took home the prize money. Sandy and Cyrus, two of our most loyal customers, combined for a bakers dozen of nice cod into the teens while another duo in the bow had around 15 nice cod to the mid and upper teens and another fella in the bow had 9 nice cod and so on. The lowest cod scores were one guy with two keepers and one guy with three keepers. Despite the pristine drift conditions the cod preferred bait to the jig today. A great mix of dark and some really nice beautiful green fish today. There were plenty of big scup to well over two pounds today, some big ocean perch, a few keeper fluke, just a sprinkling of nice size sea bass, and a couple blue fish mixed in. Some pics today provided courtesy of Roger. Tomorrow looks like another great weather day and Capt. Rich will be ready to set sail tomorrow morning at 7am aboard the Gail Frances.
Capt. Ray reported an all out scup crush today with a full boat limit. Bigger fish today with sizes to over 2lbs and most of the fish well over 12 inches. The perfect drifting conditions allowed for more sea bass than in past days with a few guys getting four and five nice sea bass apiece. Two trigger fish and a few blue fish topped off a great catch of jumbo scup. Tomorrow looks like another fine day with Capt. Ray ready to set sail at 7am aboard the Admiral Frances.
