Roger reported Capt. Rich had a respectable day of local cod fishing despite the left over swell from the most recent southerly wind event. A very warm and rather humid day for late October as a matter of fact. Mostly nice green fish in the 8 to 15lb range with the pool fish just a tad bigger in the upper teens taken on the last drop during the last five minutes of fishing by Don from Vernon CT. A nice shot of sea bass with sizes to at least 4.5lbs today. A decent number of anglers bagged 2 or 3 nice cod apiece along with a half dozen nice sea bass apiece. A scattering of big porgies to over 2lbs but not all that many. A few ocean perch, a handful of blue fish, one would be keeper fluke that was thrown back because the angler thought it was too thin, and a few winter flounder thrown back because we have to. A few fish were dropped on the jigs however bait caught everything today. Very few of the unmentionables today. A rather soft bite on the cod today but all things considered the fish were more active than we had thought they would be. A few pics today courtesy of Roger. Capt. Rich looks forward to another nice day on the water tomorrow with the Gail Frances set to sail at 7am.
Capt. Mike reported a great first day of togging today with the tog fishing far exceeding expectations, especially after the recent southerly blow. Just a handful of anglers joined us today for the opening day of tog season but nearly half of them limited out. Sizes to 9lbs and even one double header keeper tog!! A nice bunch of sea bass up to 3lbs mixed in as well today. A few pics posted courtesy Capt. Cory. Capt. Mike looks forward to another pleasant fishing day on the water tomorrow with the Lady Frances set to sail at 6am.
We will be set to sail with Capt. Ray for scup tomorrow morning at 7am aboard the Admiral Frances. Just a note to our customers we will be porgy fishing through the end of the month however we will NOT be porgy fishing on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Going forward the porgy schedule will sail Monday, Wednesday, Friday and the weekends through Oct 31st.
