Roger reported a good day of fishing with Capt. Rich on the Gail Frances with a very pleasant turnout of eager cod and sea bass enthusiasts. The morning bite for the first two hours was by far the best. The cod bit with vigor for awhile, especially towards the front of the boat. The bite then settled down to a more relaxed pace with nice size sea bass and big porgies and an occasional cod or two for the remainder of the day. Dave from CT was tied for hi hook with two other anglers all getting four nice cod apiece. Dave’s cod were all ten to seven teen pounds and Dave also took the pool and had a nice pile of sea bass and some big porgies to boot! Dave also had the season’s first double header keeper cod with two fish in the teens at once! A number of other anglers had two and three nice cod apiece to go along with all the big sea bass and platter size scup. Sizes on scup to over 2lbs and sizes on the sea bass to 4lbs. There were at least a few sea bass limits today with the majority of the anglers aboard getting at least six big sea bass apiece and those who focused a bit more on the scup with smaller hooks and baits put upwards to 20 apiece in their bags and coolers. There were a lot of small to medium size blue fish mixed in as well today. One nice fish first thing in the morning on a jig and then it was all bait thereafter. Perhaps best of all the unmentionables were once again hardly worth a mention. Tomorrow is a new day and Capt. Rich looks forward to setting sail on the Gail Frances at 7am. Capt. Mike reported another great day on the tog boat with a great haul of tog to 9lbs and quite a few angler limits along with some nice sea bass. Tomorrow looks like stellar black fish conditions with Capt. Mike ready to set sail on the Lady Frances at 6am.
First mate Troy reported a great day of Porgy fishing today with many angler limits and quite a few nice size sea bass to 4lbs. In fact the best number of sea bass we have seen in awhile on the porgy boat with an average of 4-5 sea bass a person to go along with the platter size scup that frequently went over 2lbs with a few super platters approaching 3lbs. Capt. Chris looks forward to porgy fishing tomorrow with the Admiral Frances set to sail at 7am.
