Capt. Ray reported the first night of squid fishing for the season was rather underwhelming due to stronger wind than forecast and rather dirty water. A respectable turnout of squid enthusiasts including many of our long time regular squid customers and while we marked squid strongly on the fish finder machine at various depths, with the dirty water, they just were not very aggressive. The wind also made for some uncharacteristically chilly fishing conditions to boot! Most of the squid that were taken were of very good size and Capt. Ray reported there were a few anglers with up to a dozen or so pieces apiece and even one or two double headers but not nearly enough. Our next trip is slated for Wednesday Night so hopefully by then things will clear up.
Just a side note there were two anglers, not just one, who shared hi hook honors with 4 nice keeper fluke apiece yesterday and Capt. Ted also reported a big horse mackerel of over 2lbs taken on a fluke rig. Capt. Mike will be out today so look for another fresh fluke report a bit later this afternoon.
