Capt. Rich and first mate Chris L reported that they easily limited the boat out on sea bass up to 5lbs today and Capt. Cory estimates at least two dozen sea bass over 3lbs today with several that were close to 5lbs! Fluke fishing was more relaxed until the end of the day when the drift picked up and the fluke responded accordingly albeit during the last hour of the trip. Hi hook did manage to ice five fine keeper fluke today and there were several jumbos with the best around 7lbs. A dozen or so big porgies to at least 2lbs and a half dozen alligator blue fish up to 14lbs!! to keep those lucky anglers on their toes, plus another one of those cod like creatures (the red hake). In fact Capt. Rich has had a red hake a day for the past few days. The report from the crew was that all terminal gear was generally effective for both the fluke and the sea bass. Looks like more great fishing weather tomorrow and Capt. Rich will be ready to set sail on the Gail Frances at 7am.
Roger and Capt. Matt reported overall it was a fine day of half day fishing. Quality over quantity today on both outings. The morning trip featured a nice pick of fluke to 5.5lbs and a handful of nice size sea bass, a few big porgies and a good number of short fluke to keep the momentum going. A good bunch of anglers had two to four nice keepers apiece on this morning’s run. All terminal gear seemed to be effective this morning. The afternoon trip found a rather quick drift with bait rigs doing the best. A steady pick of fluke to over 6lbs and a nice shot of sea bass to almost 3lbs and quite the blue fish blitz kept Cote and Capt. Matt busily running up and down the deck of the Lady Frances this afternoon. Not as many shorts on the afternoon trip. Whole squid was responsible for the biggest fish of the trip but overall it was not tremendously productive. The weather on both trips was about as good as it gets! Tomorrow we look forward to more of the same weather wise and hopefully fishing wise as well with the Lady Frances set to sail at 8am and again at 1pm. Capt. Matt is scheduled to be at the helm for both trips.
Capt. Mike reported the John Caine charter was very successful today with a nice mess of keeper fluke and an even nicer mess of big sea bass to nearly 5 lbs. All this bounty from the sea was accumulated with rental rods and long leader plain bait rigs which proved to be fatal today with the quick drift. All hands left with plenty of fresh fillets for some fine dining in the near future. Still some choice dates available for private charters. Peruse the Private Charters section of the web site if interested and kindly give us a call here at the office and speak to Tammy Cory or Roger for further booking details.
Due to slow squid reports we have shelved the squid/combo trips once again for this weekend. Stay tuned to see if we will be attempting them for the following weekend. Please also keep in mind that this Sunday Morning there is no half day trip. This ONLY APPLIES TO THIS SUNDAY!
