The report from the Striped Bass boat last night was of great weather and an surprisingly straight drift leading to optimal conditions but for whatever reason the bass were just not on the chew. Tangles were reportedly almost non existent for the sold out crowd reported first mates Troy and Capt. Matt. The anglers did manage to chip away at a few handfuls of keeper bass with the best of the lot in the mid teens and a few small blue fish. Congrats to long time loyal customer Ginny Reed who took the pool with her 15 lb Striper! Way to go Ginny! Some beautiful pictures showcasing angler hi lights from last night’s trip are provided courtesy Ginny Reed. Tonight we try again and there is still plenty of room and Capt. Ray will be ready to set sail at 7pm on the Lady Frances. Please call the office to make a reservation after 8am today or book it on line during the next several hours.
Last night’s 4pm half day was outstanding reported first mate Cote. Capt. George put his anglers into an excellent bite of fluke locally and while there was nothing big there were lots and lots of nice keepers to over 3lbs and plenty of shorts to keep the rods bent. A handful of nice size sea bass thrown in for good measure to make it a great outing even better!
Capt. Mike reported a great morning of half day fishing with plenty of keepers and a good slug of shorts to keep everyone busy. Two half days on tap for Sunday with the first at 8am and the second at 1pm on the Admiral Frances both with Capt. George.
Capt. George reported the banker’s hours Porgy trip was much improved today with a much better bite on the big porgies and a nice slug of good size sea bass as well. Hi hook managed to score about two dozen nice scup and that angler also reported the key, like yesterday, was a slack line on the bottom for the most success. Biggest scup again around 2lbs. Biggest sea bass around four pounds and there were a number of sea bass limits. Just one keeper fluke and some shorts today and two fine trigger fish as well. They anchored and drifted today with drifting producing the best results. Next bankers hours trips for porgies are slated for Thursday through Saturday of this coming week leaving at 9am and returning at 3pm.
Capt. Rich and first mate Capt. Cory reported the full day fluke/sea bass trip saw more in the way of sea bass today than fluke and the sea bass were mostly of very good size with a number of sea bass in the four to five pound range. In fact a sea bass over five pounds easily took the pool today with the honors going to long time regular customer Richard from Lee MA. Way to go Richard! A good many of the anglers aboard easily limited out on big sea bass with hi hook catching 15 good ones (orl) and there was another angler who tossed back 7 big ones after reaching his limit. Whole squid was reported to be deadly today on the sea bass and worked for the fluke as well. It was a pretty quick drift. Nothing big on the fluke but a few anglers did manage several keepers apiece. A couple of big scup and one blue fish rounded out the day’s species assortment for the day. Looks like more great “beat the heat and go fishing” weather tomorrow with Capt. Rich ready to set sail on the Gail Frances at 7am.
Tomorrow’s cod trip is a go and there is still availability so call the office to make reservations after 8am if interested or book on line through the course of today. Tomorrow’s limited load cod trip sets sail at 5am aboard the Lady Frances tomorrow morning. Roger will have the store open by 4am for tackle sales and check ins. The store will then close at 5am and Cory will have it re open by 530 am for tackle sales and check ins for the morning full and half day fluke trips.
