Roger thought this morning’s half day fishing was very good with a great mix of big sea bass and nice size fluke. Best on the sea bass over 4lbs and best on the fluke close to 4lbs. A good number of the anglers aboard left with a couple nice fluke and a couple nice sea bass apiece making for some great looking bags of fillets for a half day of fishing. Rental Rods by far caught the best for both size and numbers and this has been steadfast for quite some time now. A decent amount of shorts both fluke and sea bass, a few nice size scup and all kinds of sea robins kept things from getting dull. Next half day with Capt. Matt set sail at 4pm today aboard the Admiral Frances.
Capt. Kyle and Capt. Cory reported an awesome day on the full day boat today with Capt. Rich. CRUSH once again becomes an apt word for the Gail Frances with a good number of the light crowd of anglers aboard limited out on big fluke and many limited out on big sea bass. There were two dozen jumbo fluke with about a dozen of those over 5lbs and three 8lbs or better with the best being landed by long time regular Dan Melino with a fine 10 lb slab (one of 7 big fluke in his cooler). Many sea bass over 3lbs today with the best around 5lbs and anglers also tangled with some mega blue fish in the ten to fifteen pound range!! Wow!! Hi hook on the fluke was Mr. Kim who landed 13 keepers (orl). Longtime regular Bruce also easily limited out. All terminal gear was effective however whole squid and or Peruvian spearing were tough to beat, the big bait-bait rigs were the way to go. Fluke belly strips however were not all that effective. The pool fish and most of the jumbo fluke were taken on either whole squid or the big Peruvian spearing. The fluke and sea bass were GORGED on sand eels and squid so with the tremendous bait around and a nice drift, the magic can happen! Several pics provided today courtesy Capt. Cory. Tomorrow looks like another great fishing day with the Gail Frances set to sail at 7am with Capt. Rich again at the helm.
Capt. Frank just called in and said he spoke to Capt. Mike out on the Whale Watch where they are having yet ANOTHER HISTORIC WHALE SHOW with Humpbacks, Finbacks, and Dolphin all out showing their beauty in force as they gorge themselves on the abundant sand eels teeming in the waters south of Block Island. Plenty of room for reservations on both tomorrow and Saturday’s Whale Watch runs which set sail at 1pm. Call the office if interested in booking!!
