Roger reported this morning’s half day was excellent with a great mix of fluke and sea bass for the anglers aboard and a nice mix of both species was found in all areas sampled along Rhode Island’s scenic south shore. Hi hooks were a three way tie with three keeper fluke apiece and hi hook on the sea bass also had three keepers. Rental Rods did well once again. The tandem bait rig that Roger likes to use was also effective and spro jigs showed some life once again today as well. Nothing big but lots of quality with the best fluke around 4.5lbs and best sea bass 3.5 lbs. A few sand sharks and loads of sea robins of all sizes plus plenty of short fluke and short sea bass kept the rods bent and anglers busy at the rail throughout the trip. A few good size scup thrown in as well for good measure. Next half day sets sail at 4pm this evening aboard the Admiral Frances.
First mates Capt. Ted and Capt. Matt reported it was another fine day on the Gail Frances. Over 175 nice keeper fluke went into the bags and coolers of the anglers aboard today. A nice bunch of sea bass up to 3lbs as well. Nice clean fishing with just fluke and sea bass as the scup and blue fish were absent today. Three fluke in the 8lb range fought it out for the pool and there were a few other jumbos but mostly just lots of nice keepers. The vast majority of anglers aboard had four to six keepers apiece to take home with a good half dozen or better limit catches. Sounds like all terminal gear was effective today. A decent number of sea bass limits as well today. Past two days have featured some excellent fishing!! Capt. Rich will be ready to set sail tomorrow morning at 7am aboard the Gail Frances.
Another great Whale Watch trip today!! Humpbacks and Finbacks put on an awe inspiring show! Plenty of sea birds could be seen feeding above the frequently breeching whales. Some great pics provided today courtesy Chris K.
