Capt. Ray and first mate Greg reported that the Striper fishing was somewhat relaxed last night with just a handful of nice bass into the mid teens gracing the decks of the Lady Frances. The blue fish were more active however and found the fresh live eels tough to resist. We try again tonight and there is room if anyone would like to go. Capt. Ray will be ready to set sail aboard the Lady Frances at 7pm.
Roger reported this morning’s half day trip was excellent! Plenty of nice sea bass up to and over 3lbs pleased the anglers aboard and some nice fluke to 4lbs thrown in for good measure. Everyone left with a nice bag of fish and there were numerous sea bass limits around the boat. Roger limited out on big sea bass about half way through the first drift! He wound up catching around ten keeper sea bass, retaining only his limit of course. Hi hook on fluke took home 3 fine keepers. Rental Rod set ups and Roger’s tandem bait rig with just squid and spearing. Whole Squid worked well also but did not outshine squid and spearing combos. Spro set ups were not as effective. Plenty of short sea bass as well to keep everyone busy. A couple pics are provided courtesy Capt. Mike and Roger. Very important to note tomorrow, Saturday August 3rd will ONLY FEATURE A MORNING 8AM TO NOON HALF DAY. THERE IS NO 4PM HALF DAY SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY AUGUST 3RD.
Capt. Cory reported a good day on the 7am full day boat with Capt. Rich. There were several limits of fluke and a number of sea bass limits around the boat today. Hi hook on the fluke actually brought 10 keepers (orl) to the net today. The size of the fluke was impressive as well with over two dozen jumbos recorded (4lbs or better) with the best pushing the needle down to near the 7lb mark. The fluke and sea bass were just GORGED AND GORGED on sand eels today with the area described as “TEEMING” with bait! Spros were reportedly working well today as did the Peruvian spearing or smelts. Whole Squid caught some fish today but was not red hot. A handful of blue fish as well to add a little sport Regardless it was a great day of fishing! A special shout out today to long time regular customer Rick Newman whose nephew A.J. from New Rochelle NY on his first fluke fishing trip ever landed a nice jumbo fluke! Way to go A. J. Capt. Rich looks forward to more good weather and fishing tomorrow with the Gail Frances set to sail at 7am.
First mate Troy reported the Andy Thompson group had a blast today on their 8am full day charter. Sea Bass to 5 lbs with a full boat limit of big sea bass and a nice tidy pile of good size fluke to boot! A dozen jumbos between four and six pounds with most of the other fluke in the 3 lb range. A couple blue fish thrown in for good measure. Rental Rod set ups were king once again, the squid strip/spearing combo on a long leader proved deadly and far out fished the spro set ups inshore today. Some pics coming today or tomorrow courtesy of First mate Troy. Still plenty of prime dates available for private charter so if interested please call the office for further booking details and/or check out the private charter section of our web site and then call the office and ask to speak to Tammy, Roger or Cory.
Capt. Mike reported Whale Watching to be very successful once again today with breeching Humpback Whales satisfying Whale Watch Patrons. Whale Watches sail through the end of August on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 1pm by reservation.
