Just wanted to post some pics from last Wednesday Night’s Striper trip courtesy of our long time regular customer Ginny Reed. The pics are located just below this post. Chris Foreman from Orlando Florida is pictured with the pool winning fish of close to 30 lbs and Chris and his family enjoyed the fresh fish on a recent cook out! Ginny and Cole combined for three nice bass Wednesday Night as well! Still plenty of openings on tonight’s Striper trip if anyone is interested in booking please call the office to make a reservation. Recent action has been up and down this past week, hopefully tonight will be the rebound night!
First mate Troy spoke of another excellent half day fishing trip yesterday evening. That beautiful mix of big sea bass and three to five pound fluke pleased anglers and allowed some anglers mighty impressive bags of fillets! In fact there was a double header of five pound sea bass taken on a double spro rig!! That angler ended up with six nice sea bass(orl) and two big fluke last night and had the hi hook honors. Rental Rod set ups also caught just fine. Once again there is NO 4PM HALF DAY TODAY.
The Cod trip tomorrow is a go. There is still room if anyone else would like to go. The office will open at 4 am for Cod check ins and ticket sales. The Cod trip will set sail on the Lady Frances at 5am and return at 5pm and ticket price is $100. The office will then close at 5am and re open between 530 am and 6am for the rest of the morning’s trips check ins, ticket and tackle sales. This will be the first cod trip in two weeks, be on the look out for a fresh cod report by Roger later tomorrow afternoon/evening.
First mate Cote reported that the morning half day had very good fishing today and a great turnout of half day enthusiasts. Plenty of sea bass limits for those who stayed at the rail and some nice fluke mixed in with all the jumbo sea bass. Biggest fluke around five pounds and plenty of sea bass over 3lbs with the best just under 4lbs. More short sea bass and short fluke today as well keeping things very busy. This great catch was amassed with rental rod set ups (long leader and straight bait, squid strip/spearing combos). Tomorrow’s half day schedule is 8am to Noon and 1pm to 5pm. Both trips are set to sail on the Admiral Frances and remember if you are interested in doing back to back trips there is a $15 discount off the second outing which is a very full day of fishing for just $65!!
Capt. Matt reported the AM half day charter for the Steen Antensen group was a great success with a full limit of big sea bass to 4lbs, one big blue fish and a handful of nice fluke to 5 lbs. Again all of this was done with Rental Rod set ups. A picture of the great catch or most of it can be seen above today’s fishing report, courtesy Capt. Matt.
Capt. Cory reported it was QUALITY OVER QUANTITY today on board the Gail Frances. Capt. Rich fished some hard bottom looking for the super size slabs and he found them! There were nearly two dozen jumbo fluke boated including four fish over 8lbs! A couple of even bigger fluke (double digit territory?) were hooked but did not make it aboard so Capt. Rich was certainly in BIG FISH COUNTRY today! Longtime regular Billy T from NJ was hi hook buck tailing a total of six big fluke including four jumbos and the pool with a slab that brought the needle on the scale to nearly the 9 lb mark. Well done Billy!! Billy tied hi hook honors with one other fella who also boxed six nice fluke. Fishing rougher terrain produces big fish but it also has a tendency to eat some tackle so make sure to keep your bait moving to minimize donations to the sea floor. Some nice sea bass to four pounds and a nice handful of blue fish to ten pounds topped of a good catch of big fluke today. Buck tails of various kinds were the way to go today. Capt. Rich looks forward to an even nicer weather day tomorrow and he will be ready to set sail at the helm of the Gail Frances at 7am.
