Capt. Rich and first mate Chris reported a very good day on the 7 am full day boat. A lot of good size fluke to six pounds and a full boat limit of sea bass to five pounds pleased the light crowd of patrons today. A decent number of the anglers aboard had four to six keeper fluke apiece to go along with their sea bass. Mr. Pak for instance had six nice keepers and the six pound pool fish while long time regular customer Mike had hi hook honors boxing 7 nice fluke to go along with his sea bass limit. A few blue fish and a few scup rounded out the very good catch of fluke and sea bass. Capt. Rich looks forward to another nice fishing day tomorrow with the Gail Frances set to sail at 7am.
Capt. Matt reported both the morning and afternoon half day trips very successful. Excellent numbers of good size sea bass to nearly 5 lbs on both outings and some good size fluke up to 5lbs both trips as well pleased the anglers aboard and many of the anglers left with very nice bags of fillets. Numerous sea bass limits were observed. Tomorrow we offer two half days with the first to set sail at 8am and the second to set sail at 4pm.
We will be out Striper fishing tonight so look for a fresh bass report tomorrow morning. We have not been out since last Saturday and hopes are high for better tides and more consistent fishing this coming week for Stripers.
Roger was out cod fishing with former Frances Fleet Captain, Captain Dan today and reported things were just like they left it on Sunday with a nice mix of green and dark fish. Nothing big with the best threatening the mid teens and plenty of cod just shy of the legal length kept both fellas very busy today. Bigger cod were hooked today but not boated, fear not however the big cod are most certainly still around. Both bait and jigs produced desired responses from the gadids but bait was by far the popular choice despite the waters teeming with sand eels. Plenty of super size ocean perch to two pounds and a few small Pollock as well. Best of all besides the pop corn weather featuring cobalt blue skies and comfortable temps was not a single dog fish and a Finback Whale Show that rivaled the one witnessed by Roger and the cod fish patrons of that Sunday trip a few weeks ago! Whales, bait and birds could be seen frequently from twenty miles out and beyond! A basking shark was also observed today. Just tremendous amounts of life offshore. Still room on this coming Sunday’s cod trip so if interested please book on line or call the office to make a reservation. The cod trip is set to sail on the Lady Frances at 5am, Sunday August 11th.
