The report from first mate Troy was of respectable bass fishing last night. It was one of those rare nights where we had a very light crowd of anglers and beautiful weather conditions including a great drift! Hi hook managed to boat 6 nice bass (orl) and there were other limit catches observed. Nice size fish with the best in the mid 20’s.
Roger reported despite some slightly ambitious weather this morning the fluke and sea bass fishing was simply excellent! A steady stream of nice fluke and good size sea bass to please the patrons aboard. Not quite as many shorts as usual today with the emphasis on quality. A good number of the anglers aboard had a couple of each to take home and that is one fine bag of fillets, especially for a short trip! Rich from New Rochelle NY, long time regular took the pool with a fine 5 lb jumbo. Hi hook on fluke keepers took home three fish. Rental Rod set ups once again reigned supreme although a few fish were buck tailed today. A pile of recent half day pics are provided courtesy of Christine Blount and will be posted above today’s reports. Half Day Fishing has been really fantastic this season and we see no reason why this great fishing shouldn’t hold for some time to come.
First mate Troy reported his morning charter for the Derek Griest group was outstanding for sea bass up to 4 lbs with the boat just shy of a full boat limit. Everyone left with nice bags of sea bass fillets. A couple of nice fluke as well in the mix today. Rental Rod set ups, like on the half day, again reigned supreme. Plenty of prime dates available for private charter so if interested in booking a charter give the office a call and ask to speak with Tammy, Roger, or Cory. Information about private charters can also be found right here on the web site in the Private Charters section.
Sunday’s cod trip is a go. There is still considerable room for reservations. We use the 105 foot Lady Frances for Sunday Cod trips and we limit the number of fishing passengers to roughly 45 to maximize angler comfort. Fishing was very good last Sunday and Roger was out this past Wednesday and thought it was just fine as well. On any of our trips, whether inshore or offshore, we do not give out numbers of booked passengers but will gladly let the individual inquiring know if we will be able to accommodate the number of reservations he or she needs to book at the time of inquiry. The office will be open by 4am for check ins/tackle sales and will close at 5am to reopen shortly thereafter by Capt. Cory for check ins/ticket and tackle sales for the 7 and 8am fluke/sea bass trips.
Due to the weather there is no Striped Bass and 4pm half day tonight. Plenty of room still on tomorrow night’s Striper run so book on line or call the office if interested in going. This week’s action was vastly improved over last week’s. For half day tomorrow there are two trips slated with the first leaving at 8am and the second leaving in the later afternoon at 4pm. The 8am will be on the Lady Frances and the 4pm will be aboard the Admiral Frances.
Next Whale Watch trip is slated for tomorrow. Still some spots left so call fast to get in on one of the best Whale seasons in recent memory!! Some pics from yesterday’s awesome show provided courtesy deckhand Chris P. are shown above.
There was no 7am full day boat today. Tomorrow the weather looks fantastic and Capt. Rich will be ready to set sail at 7am aboard the Gail Frances.
