The report from first mate Chris K was of just fair Striper fishing last night. Some nice bass to just under 25 lbs made their way aboard the Lady Frances. There was at least one limit catch reported. A couple blue fish and that was it. Tonight there is plenty of room plus the weather looks dynamite for the bass trip so if interested please call the office to book a spot.
Capt. George reported a fair PM half day trip. A very fast drift made things somewhat challenging. The smaller fish were active but the keepers not so much. Still decent catching. Half Day trips today sail at 8am and again at 4pm.
Roger from the Frances Fleet reported this morning’s half day fishing trip was one stop shopping! One slow drift with a steady stream of nice size fluke and good size sea bass coming up from beginning until the “going home” speech. Not as many short fluke and or short sea bass today but the QUALITY was there for sure. Twin slabs in the 7 pound range fought it out for pool honors today while at least fifteen other jumbo or “jo” fluke over 4lbs came aboard the Lady Frances this morning! Plenty of other fine keepers with quite a few just shy of “jo” status. Not everyone left with keepers but many of the anglers aboard left with impressive bags of fillets. Longtime regular Mike from Providence was hi hook with five nice keeper fluke to at least 5 lbs using just a bait rig and the Rental Rod set ups once again did very well with most of the bigger fluke coming up on simple rig set ups and just squid/spearing. In case any one has not been reading the blog the rental rod set ups with a nice strip of squid and spearing combo on that long leader have been deadly all summer! Again as fluke and sea bass are predatory fish it behooves one to make sure the baits are nice and streamlined and swim well in the water. Baits that spin will not produce! Plenty of good sea bass mixed in as well but no giants. The best on these small relatives of the grouper family tipped the scales in the 3 lb range. One short Striper and a few nice blue fish added some additional sport for the morning. A very large and curious leather back sea turtle also came over to check us out this morning. The weather was about as good as it gets today, combined with good fishing and too many picture fish to count makes this morning’s half day one to remember! A pile of pics showcasing just some of the angler hi lights are posted courtesy of Roger from this morning’s outing.

First mate Capt. Ted reported a respectable day of fishing on the 7 am full day boat. Chris was hi hook with 6 fine keepers and he was using spro buck tails. Biggest fish was around 7 lbs. A number of other jumbo fish in the 4 lb plus range as well. Not many but some really nice sea bass to 4 lbs mixed in with the fluke today. A few blue fish as well and one big scup rounded out the catch of fluke and good size sea bass today on the Gail Frances. Looks like more great weather for fishing tomorrow with Capt. Rich set to sail on the Gail Frances at 7 am.
