First mate Cote was excited to relay word that last night’s PM half day was excellent! Just like the morning there were many jumbo fluke caught, at least a dozen with seven or eight of them over 5lbs and the best just under 7lbs. Very few under three pounds!! Again squid/spearing combos on long leader rental rods were the demise of all the big fluke. The fluke have been gorging on sand eels and some squid recently and there is just a staggering amount of bait in the local area. Some nice sea bass last night as well. Just a great day of half day fishing all day yesterday! Reminder there is NO TRIP THIS AFTERNOON, however we are back to normal tomorrow with the Admiral Frances set to sail 8am to Noon and then 1pm to 5pm.
The report from first mate Capt. Matt on last night’s Striper trip was of very good fishing. Nice size keepers in the teens with the best around 20 lbs. There were at least a few limit catches including longtime regular customer Ginny Reed and her grandson Cole. In fact, Cole boated four keepers himself (orl) and Ginny took the pool with her 20 lbr. Way to go Ginny and Cole!! All bass except for one blue fish and one keeper fluke. A bunch of awesome pics are provided courtesy of Ginny. The Striped Bass trip leaving tonight at 7pm is SOLD OUT!! Call the office for further booking details. Through Labor Day Weekend Striper fishing sails on the Wednesday through Saturday Nights at 7pm by reservation.
The morning half day trip was only fair despite a wonderful turnout of enthusiastic fishers. A handful of fluke and some nice sea bass and a lot of small sea bass and that was about it. Next half day trips set sail tomorrow morning at 8am and again at 1pm aboard the Admiral Frances.
The report from Capt. Rich was of a nice day of mixed bag fishing for a relatively light load of anglers. A nice mess of good size sea bass to 3 lbs along with some nice fluke to 5 lbs, some porgies and nearly a dozen good size trigger fish. Capt. Rich will be ready to set sail tomorrow morning at 7am aboard the Gail Frances. The weather looks great and the fishing has been good so come on down!
Capt. Matt had a very good day on both of his charters. The morning half day charter for the Sean Paluska group put together a great catch of nice size sea bass and a handful of fluke while the afternoon half day charter for the Josh Levy group had a nice mess of fluke up to 5 lbs and a handful of good size sea bass. Private Charter information can be found on line in the Private Charters section or by calling the office and asking to speak to Roger, Tammy or Cory.
The cod trip for tomorrow will set sail at 5 am on the Lady Frances. The office will be open around 4 am for check ins and tackle sales and will close at 5am then reopen with Capt. Cory for around 530 am. The cod trip is not sold out so walk ons will most certainly be welcome in the morning, just be sure to come into the office before 5 am to purchase your ticket(s). The weather looks awesome for all trips tomorrow. The Lady Frances will be ARMED with fresh clams to do battle with the brown bombers.
