The word from first mate Greg was that last night’s Striper trip found some real quality fish! The action was very good and the turnout of enthusiastic bass anglers excellent as well. Frank Pate took the pool with a fine bass that tipped the scales at 35 lbs. Way to go Frank! There were at least a handful of bass limits and a good number of the bass were in the 15 to 20 lb range. A nice bunch of blue fish to top off the bass catch as well. A picture of Frank’s fish can be seen above today’s fishing report courtesy of first mate Greg. Next bass trip is scheduled to set sail this coming Saturday Night, September 7th at 7pm.
The report for both the morning and afternoon half days was of good fishing with more in the way of sea bass than fluke. Quite a few really nice sea bass in the two to three pound range on both trips with the best just under 4 lbs for the day. Nothing big on the fluke keepers with the best just over three pounds. There was one full limit catch of sea bass on the afternoon trip ( limit now is 7 fish!) and the angler got his limit using both whole squid and boat bait. Half day season winds down tomorrow with trips set to sail at 8am and again at 1pm.
First mate Cote reported the Sean Lundy charter also had great success this morning on the sea bass with plenty of fish to over 3lbs and some nice fluke as well but again nothing big. Still plenty of prime fall dates available for scup and sea bass charters so call the office or check out the private charters section of this web site for further booking details.
Capt. Rich reported another good day of fluking today. Pool fish went to a longtime regular customer Ben from CT who steered safely into a net the pool winning 10 lb 29 inch slab. There was at least one limit catch today on the fluke and there were a handful of anglers who iced three to five nice fish apiece. A better showing of sea bass to 3 lbs today along with a few blues and a few scup. Sounds like buck tails were the way to go today on the full day boat. A pic of the pool fish will be posted above today’s report provided courtesy Capt. Cory. Tomorrow is a new day and Capt. Matt will be at the helm of the Gail Frances ready to set sail at 7am.
The report from first mate Chris K was of very respectable Porgy fishing today. There were a few limits and most anglers wound up with a nice bunch of scup. A few handfuls of keeper sea bass and a fine 31 inch Striper to take the pool. Biggest scup around 2 lbs with most fish in the 3/4 lb to 1lb range. Capt. Ray sets sail tomorrow for Scup at 7 am aboard the Admiral Frances and we are now Porgy fishing DAILY at 7am weather permitting.
