The report from the Gail Frances tells the tale of yet another mind bogglingly productive day on the local fluke grounds. Not only did we have a nice turnout of fluke enthusiasts today but the fluke themselves were once again VERY ENTHUSIASTIC about inhaling many of the angler offerings that passed before them. Far and away both buck tails and whole squid were the winners today for the biggest scores but all terminal gear was effective. There were at least a dozen limit catches and the hi hooks were several anglers who boated 12 to 15 keepers apiece (orl). A good many others aboard had four to seven nice fluke apiece and then there were a handful of others who did not fare as well. Biggest fish for the day was around 5lbs but many were those really nice fish in the 3.25 to 3.75 lb range. A few handfuls of sea bass including a couple 4 lb bombers and one lone blue fish today. Again the fluke stole the show!! Next 7am full day drift fluke/seabass trip will set sail at 7am tomorrow morning on the Gail Frances.
Capt. Ray reported mediocre scup fishing today. Strong tides really hurt the bite and kept the fish down hard in the rocks. Nevertheless anglers did chip away at some nice size porgies and a few handfuls of keeper sea bass with a nice jumbo 3 lb sea bass winning the pool today. Hi hooks on the scup were in the 15 to 20 keepers apiece range. Pictures showcasing some of the angler hi lights from today’s trip are provided courtesy longtime regular Ginny Reed. Capt. Ray looks forward to another great weather and fishing day tomorrow with the Admiral Frances set to sail at 7am.
First mate Capt. Nicky reported the Dan Stebbins charter enjoyed a pick of fluke this afternoon. Nicky himself caught the biggest fish of the trip with a fine slab of over 6lbs and he was hi hook with three nice keepers.
