Roger reported another very good day of porgy fishing. The key was keeping the baits still on the bottom for the bigger scup but if one did that then he or she did quite well. There were a number of limit catches and very few anglers who had less than a couple dozen nice scup apiece. A few handfuls of nice size sea bass mixed in with a couple anglers having three or four keepers apiece. A nice steady pick of fish both on the anchor and the drift but anchoring up and keeping a still bait was the key to the best sizes and numbers today. The weather was spectacular and the fishing was close to home maximizing soak time, it just doesn’t get much better than that now does it!! Biggest scup threatening the 2 lb mark with best sea bass just under 3 lbs and a good number of scup in the 1.25 to 1.5 lb while anchored up. Looks like another awesome day of weather tomorrow and Capt. Ray will be set to sail on the Admiral Frances at 7am.
First mate Chris K just informed the office of an EXCELLENT Tuna trip which just came back into port. A great catch of 30 to 40 lb Albacore and a nice handful of bigger Yellowfin in the 60 to 90 lb range. A few Yellows on the chunk but most of the action was on the troll and just one albacore on the jig. Everyone left with plenty of fresh tuna once again. Next trip is set to sail this evening at 10 pm aboard the Lady Frances with Capt. Mike and Capt. Matt at the helm and there is plenty of room should anyone want to jump on.
On the Tuna trip which came back last Sunday there was some tackle left behind. Should this pertain to anyone on that trip please call the office for further discussion.
Roger is pleased to report that we FINALLY will be starting our Fall Cod Season tomorrow morning at 7am aboard the Gail Frances with Capt. Rich at the helm. The cod schedule going forward through til the end of the year will be Monday Wednesday Friday and the Weekends at 7am weather permitting unless otherwise noted.
