First mate Troy reported another very good day of fishing on the cod/sea bass boat. An enthusiastic group of anglers showed up today to enjoy some of the finest fall weather that Mother Nature could muster up. Some nice size cod with the best in the mid 20’s with a few others in the 18 to 20 lb range and a nice bunch of other fat green cod in the 8 to 15 lb range plus a few smaller keepers and some shorts. The sea bass side of things was excellent with many of the anglers aboard taking home full limits of big sea bass in the two to three pound range with some real brutes up to nearly 5 lbs mixed in. Quite a few scup of varying sizes as well today with hi hooks on those taking upwards to 20 or so nice size porgies apiece. Biggest scup in the 2 lb range. Also of note today was the number of super size ocean perch to over 2lbs that made for a great addition to many bags and coolers. Many coolers were once again filled right up with this great assortment of bottom dwellers. Everything was on bait today. Due to the amazing weather Capt. Rich drifted part of the day but the anchoring, as is often the case this time of year, was the key to the best success, and not surprisingly the biggest cod fish. Tomorrow looks to be another great day for fishing and Capt. Rich will be ready to set sail aboard the Lady Frances at 7am.
The report from Capt. Mike was of a very respectable first day of tog fishing. Peter Tu was hi hook with five keepers today. Biggest fish was reported to be around six pounds. Quite a few short togs kept interest levels up as well throughout the day. Some sea bass and a few scup plus one fine keeper cod rounded out the day’s catch. A few pics will appear courtesy Capt. Mike. Capt. Mike will be ready to set sail tomorrow morning aboard the Admiral Frances at 6am for tatoug.
