Roger reported today’s cod and sea bass outing was unfortunately slower than the past few trips. There were a few sea bass limits and some of the sea bass were hefty fish in the three to four pound range but overall they ran smaller today and in general the bite was much less aggressive. Most anglers had just a few sea bass apiece today. The scup generally ran smaller today as well although there were a few platter size scup to 18 inches taken. Hi hooks on the scup had upwards to 15 keepers apiece for those who targeted them with smaller hooks. Only a few cod today with the best taken by longtime regular Norm who did take the prize money today with a fine fat green fish in the upper teens which went along nicely with his limit of jumbo sea bass to over 4lbs. A picture of Norm’s nearly full cooler will be shown courtesy of Roger. Some ocean perch today but overall they were smaller too. It was a brisk day with a big swing on the anchor. The unmentionables were largely avoidable by using one hook down low near the sinker. Everyday is different but most folks left with at least dinner today and tomorrow is a new day with a great weather forecast and we will hopefully round the big green cod back up in better numbers! Capt. Rich will be ready to set sail at 7am aboard the Lady Frances.
Capt. Mike reported an okay day of tog fishing with the highlight of the trip a behemoth 11 lb chinner who was not entered in the pool! The pool was split with a couple of 6 lb fish. There was one limit catch today and a couple other guys who had several nice tog apiece. Some short tog but not much in the way of scup and sea bass. One short cod. That was about it. A few pics provided courtesy Capt. Mike. Capt. Mike will be set to sail on the Admiral Frances at 6am for tog tomorrow.
There is no specific porgy trips scheduled until next weekend both Saturday and Sunday as of now( the 26th and 27th). Large porgies are available on the cod and sea bass outings that sail Mon, Wed, Fri and the Weekends at 7am.
